Michaelmas, or the Feast of Michael and All Angels, is celebrated on the 29th of September every year. As it falls near the equinox, the day is associated with the beginning of autumn and the shortening of days; in England, it is one of the “quarter days”.

Michaelmas is also called the festival of enlightenment. Archangel Michael, who has ascended to the level or Archai, helps us with love and knowledge. An excellent book that deals with the esoteric festivals for us Anthroposophists is “The Cycle of the Year as a Path of Initionation” by Sergei O. Prokofieff. This book provides the reader with an indepth study of all the festivals and is linked with the deeper esoteric meanings.

Heading toward the half-hidden festival of Micha-el and all angels at the end of the month, can I take the whole vortex of current events into the heart of my own being? “My soul and the world are but one.”
